In the spotlight with award-winner, Andy Perry

Drivers play a crucial part in the success of our network, doing whatever it takes to ensure that customers receive their deliveries whilst generally going above and beyond in their roles.

At our recent Pall-Ex Group Annual Awards Evening, Andy Perry from Premier Palletised Limited received the Network Driver Recognition Award, in celebration of the hard work he has displayed since joining the network almost 14 years ago. It is estimated that he has delivered over 100,000 pallets since joining the team at PPL.

Described by his colleagues as cheerful, pleasant and always making the best out of any situation, we spoke to Andy following his award win to find out what the recognition meant to him.

When did you begin working at PPL and what job roles have you worked in previously?

I started at Premier Palletised London nearly 14 years ago, where I began as Night Warehouse Manager. I have also previously been in charge of the transport department, before gaining my Class 2 licence in 2016.

What does it mean to you to win the Driver Recognition Award at the Pall-Ex Group Annual Awards evening?

I am overjoyed to win this award. I was so pleased to be short-listed but never thought I would win, so it was a fantastic surprise on the night.

Did you enjoy the awards evening?

It was a fantastic evening as it always is.

What skills and knowledge have you developed in your time at PPL?

During my time at PPL, I have trained for my Class 2 license alongside holding licenses for HIAB truck cranes and forklift trucks.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Every day is different and I get to meet many different, interesting people whilst out on my travels every day.

Why do you think the transport industry is so important?

Without transport, the retail industry wouldn’t be able to operate as it does.
