With Loop Logistics providing such an extensive range of services to customers, drivers must be flexible, reliable and customer-focused. We spoke to three drivers from Loop Logistics who all demonstrate the ‘can-do’ attitude needed to succeed in the logistics industry.

Slawomir Wlodarczyk

When did you begin your career in the transport industry, and what job roles have you worked in previously?

My career in the transport industry began in 2018 and before that, I worked as a pastry chef in the food production industry.

What skills have you learnt since being in your current role?

I have learnt to take care of proper working time and I’ve expanded my knowledge of my duties.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

My duties involve taking care of the technical condition of the vehicle, reporting if there are any defects and ensuring that all deliveries reach the customer safely and on time. It is important that I report any problems if they occur during the working day.

What may surprise people about your role?

The long distances I have to cover every day and the responsibility that rests on me.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Driving and getting the opportunity to visit new places every day.

Why do you think the transport industry is so important?

The industry is so important as we help to meet peoples needs.

When did you begin your career in the transport industry, and what job roles have you worked in previously?

Shortly after passing my test, I worked as a road sweeper for two months before transitioning into my current role as a Class 2 driver.

What skills have you learnt since being in your current role?

I have learnt the safest way for loading and unloading, carrying items such as boxes, reversing and manoeuvring the vehicle and pump truck.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

When I arrive at work, I get my keys and paperwork, find my vehicle of the day and then complete my daily checks. Before setting off, I will check with transport to see the route that has been planned for me and then I will complete a final check of the security of my load.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The freedom of the job and what the industry as a whole offers. I get to do something I really enjoy, which is driving around the country whilst earning a living from it.

Have there been any challenges you’ve faced in your role?

There has been a few challenges, specifically driving through tight residential areas or doing multi-drops on time when faced with traffic or congestion, especially in busy cities such as London or Birmingham.

Why do you think the transport industry is so important?

The transport industry is so important to help keep SME’s going, as well as to fulfil everyone’s daily needs. We are transporting necessities such as food, clothing and building materials.
