After a six-week summer break, Pall-Ex backed DVF Racing with Slidesports Engineering heads to Snetterton to resume the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season, with Pro driver Tio Ellinas leading the championship standings.
Leading the title race means the driver and team have to deliver on track, a value Pall-Ex share. Cypriot Ellinas opened up a nine-point advantage after the last round at Oulton Park. Even with the Carrera Cup’s dropped-score points system he leads rival Dino Zamparelli by a point and will be looking to build on his advantage.
“Hopefully we can extend the lead even more,” said Tio.
It was really nice to go into the summer break leading the championship and I'm looking forward to getting back into the car and going racing again."
David Fairbrother, owner of Pall-Ex member A.D.D Express, competes in the Am category of the Carrera Cup, alongside Richard Hawken, and both will be hoping for podium finishes. Fairbrother took a win and second place at the Norfolk circuit last year, while Hawken has experience around the circuit in his time racing Super Touring cars.
“It will be nice to go back to Snetterton after the break,” said David. “I had a great weekend there last year with a win and second place and I will be trying to repeat that sort of performance this time out. Slidesports will give us good cars as usual so we know we will be competitive and hopefully we can represent Pall-Ex on the podium at the end of the race.”
The 2.97-mile Snetterton circuit provides a mixture of challenges for the drivers, featuring high-speed straights which surround a twisty and technical infield section and an average lap speed of close to 100 mph. With just eight races left of the 16 which makes up the 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season there will be little room for error.
Pall-Ex and DVF Racing will be on track on Wednesday July 25 for an official Porsche test, before two free practice sessions on Friday July 27. Qualifying will take place on Saturday at 14:30, with both 14-lap races on Sunday July 29 at 09:15 and 15:05 - the latter broadcast live on ITV4 and ITV Hub online.
